I use JIRA software 7.3.0 and would like to migrate to the latest stable version, how can I do this? Will it be a direct migration, or in stages? What links can help me with this?
As you may already know that Jira version 7.3.0 is already EOL but still you can upgrade the Jira if you have a active Jira license.
I would recommend to upgrade the Jira to version 8 first as this version is having major updates related indexing, memory optimization changes to make Jira run faster.
There are some points you need to aware before planing the Jira upgrade
You must have active Jira license.
Database version you are using must be compatible with new version of Jira (or update it before upgrade)
Check the JAVA version compatibility
Check all the plugin compatibility with the version you are upgrading
Jira will rebuild whole index after upgrade from 7 to 8. so first starting will be slow.
Check all the supported platform document of the version to make sure other component are compatible with the version you are upgrading.
It is always better to upgrade first on Staging instance.
Please follow the below document links which you can refer to while upgrading the Jira from 7.3.0 to 8.13.0

Hi @Mujhahid karim You need to upgrade to the version 8 first and then later upgrade the Jira to version 9 as these are major versions and lot of changes happen in the database scheme and application.
You need to check the upgrade checklist like
Please follow the below upgrade checklist document
