Hi all,

How risky is upgrade my Jira server between referred versions? Since my support period is now expired I'm not sure if I should upgrade my server...

Also, I think my license will continue being valid for the new Jira server version, but is this point true?

Many thanks in advance!

Hello Ariel,

Your license entitles you to use, and upgrade to any version of Jira released before the END of the license period.
For example, JIRA 8.3 release date is 22 July 2019, if your license expiry date is 1 July 2019, you are not entitled to upgrade to this version, so you would need to renew your license.

If you upgrade to a Jira version that was released after the end of your license period, your Jira users will not be able to create issues or properly use the tool.

If you choose to renew your license to proceed with the upgrade, it is possible that you might need to perform a few upgrades on your environment as there have been a few changes on the supported platforms from Jira 7.2 to 8.3.
You can check here the list of all supported platforms.

Cheers!
