I've got a JIRA install which is on version 6.2.x and would like to upgrade JIRA to the latest version (7.12.x)
What's the best approach to doing this? Do i upgrade current instance to each major release up to 7.x and perform indexing between each upgrade or do i create a brand spanking new JIRA install and export/import each project from the old to the new?
The old instance has a number of modules installed/enabled and after checking, i can see some that is no longer supported or non-upgrade-able
Recommendations / ??
There is an Atlassian KB ia available for this, please have a look at it and hop it helps you.

I'll suggest you to first upgrade to Dev/staging instance and then go for production.
