I have a client who has 5 instances with 5 Jira Sites, he would like to unify the 5 sites into just one Jira instance, the charges for these 5 sites would be unified, but I would like to know if the price of the licenses would be reduced

Hello @Renato Oliveira

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

The answer depends on several factors.

Does each site have a different set of users? Or is there overlap, with some users accessing more than one instance?

Are you paying monthly or annually? And what payment frequency will you use for the combined system?

Do you have the same third party apps on all the systems, or different apps?

If you have some overlap on the users of the instances, then currently you are paying for each user for each instance. Combining the instances into one would reduce that cost.

If you change from a monthly billing cycle to an annual billing cycle, that may reduce your cost.

If you have the same apps on all the instances, then your cost might be reduced. The price of apps may be reduced as you increase the user count but reduce the number of instances where it is installed.

If the instances have different apps then your costs may increase.

Apps are charged based on the number of licensed Jira users on the instance. By combining everything to one instance, you would have to pay for all apps for all users, where currently you pay for the apps based on the users of just the instance where the app is installed.

Hi Renato - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

it’s really going to depend on how many overlapping users there are between the five sites. The more users that are in multiple sites the more savings they’re going to see.

One thing would be if they have Atlassian Access, it would show the number of unique users as the ones that are being charged for the Atlassian Access product. That’s pretty much the number of users you’re going to have in the combined site so you can look at cost for that number of users, along with some room for growth.
