So I have currently one project and only one permission scheme that is applied to that one project. I have seen other solutions to this being that you have to go through the permissions and remove any where group access have been given to 'Anyone'and there isn't any.

What am I missing?

Thanks for your suggestion.

I can't actually explain what happened. When I tested anonymous access on Wednesday last week before posting this question it was still enabled.

After checking today it now isn't enabled. For the record, I never removed any 'anyone' access but something I have changed must have done something. Maybe it was a browser session variable that needed clearing/ to expire or something.

If you give permissions to project roles (the preferred method) check to see if the project lead gave permissions.
