Unable to find “Create workspace” option following Atlassian documentation

Hi Team,

I am trying to follow the official Atlassian documentation to create a new workspace: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/create-a-new-project/

However, I cannot find the option or button to create a workspace in my Jira interface.

Based on the documentation, it seems that I should be able to create a space/workspace from the navigation menu, but the corresponding UI element is not available in my account.

Could you please help clarify: 1. Whether this feature is available in my current Jira configuration? 2. If there are any permission or role requirements to create a workspace? 3. If the terminology/UI has changed (e.g., project vs space/workspace) in our Jira instance?

The confusion comes from terminology updates in Jira Cloud. Atlassian has been transitioning the term "projects" to "spaces" to unify the experience across its tools.

Where to find the option

• The Spaces Menu: Click on Spaces in the navigation bar and look for Create space at the bottom of the dropdown.
• Jira Settings: If you have administrative access, navigate to Settings (gear icon) > Spaces > Create space.

Required Permissions

If the option is completely missing from those locations, it is usually a permissions restriction:

• Company-managed spaces: This requires the Administer Jira global permission.
• Team-managed spaces: This requires the Create team-managed spaces global permission. Jira administrators frequently restrict this to prevent users from creating unmanaged environments.
