Unable to configure separate boards per workflow in Business Space (Company-managed) — statuses miss

Hi Support Team,

I am working in a Business Space (Company-managed) project called ACCOUNTING, and I have 3 different workflows with different issue types and different status sets:

  • AP (Accounts Payable) — with its own statuses (New Bill, Bill Validation, Bill Payment, etc.)
  • AR (Accounts Receivable) — with its own statuses (Not Started, Report Validation, Payment in Process, etc.)
  • Tasks — with standard statuses (Open, Backlog, In Progress, Resolved, etc.)

What I need: I need 3 separate boards, one per workflow, where each board only shows the relevant statuses and columns for that specific workflow.

What is happening:

  1. On one board, I can see the statuses and configure columns correctly.
  2. On another board, the statuses from my workflows do not appear at all — they are either missing or stuck in "Hidden statuses."
  3. On the board where statuses are visible, I cannot edit or rearrange the columns — the board is locked in Advanced mode and shows the error: "Unable to save your settings. We couldn't apply your column configuration settings."

Previously, there was a simple way to switch the board view depending on the selected workflow. This no longer seems to be available.

My questions:

  1. Is it possible in a Business Space (Company-managed) project to create separate boards, each showing only the statuses and columns of one specific workflow?
  2. Why are statuses disappearing on some boards and how can I fix it?
  3. Why is column configuration locked in Advanced mode and how can I unlock it?
  4. Is this a recent product change? If so, what is the recommended approach for managing multiple workflows with separate board views in a Business Space?

Thank you.

Hello @philip_veselov

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

Can you provide screen images to show us what you are seeing in the boards you are describing? Obscure confidential information.

What steps did you execute to create the second board?

Can you provide links to any documentation you used as guidance?

Hi, thank you for your response!

Here are the details you requested:

Screenshots: I am attaching two screenshots showing the issue:

  • Screenshot 1 shows a board in Simplified mode where statuses are visible and mapped correctly to columns (Open, Reopened, Backlog, In Progress, Resolved).
  • Screenshot 2 shows another board in Advanced mode where most statuses (New Bill, Bill Validation, Bill Payment, Bill Transfer to Accounting, Rejected, etc.) are stuck in the "Hidden statuses" section and cannot be moved to columns. The board also shows a note saying columns cannot be added, edited, or reordered.

Steps I used to create the second board:

  1. Opened the ACCOUNTING project
  2. Clicked the "+" button in the top navigation bar (next to existing board tabs)
  3. Selected "Board" as the view type
  4. The new board was created automatically — but it showed all workflows mixed together and switched to Advanced mode, making column configuration impossible.

The core problem: My project has 3 workflows with completely different status sets (AP, AR, and Tasks). When all three are present on one board, Jira switches to Advanced mode and locks column editing. Statuses from AP and AR workflows get pushed into "Hidden statuses" and are not visible on the board.

before jira was updated, I could create a workflow and mix between these processes on the board without creating more boards, now there is no such thing

Documentation I referenced:

Thank you for looking into this!

Hello @philip_veselov

Thank you for those screen images. That is helpful.

Is the first board showing statuses from only one of the workflows? Or are there more columns off to the right with more statuses so that all statuses from all workflows are included?

So far I have not been able to recreate this situation. I've been asking Chrome Gemini. It has not provided an answer for which I am able to replicate the conditions.

This post has been flagged to raise it to the attention of Atlassian team members. Hopefully they will be able to provide some insights.
