Unable to automate linking issues

LouiseJ Rivet January 20, 2023

Hello,

I am trying to link two issues together through an automation.

The desire is for the ticket to grab the data entered in a custom field and create a 'caused by' link in the ticket when a certain transition trigger happens.

This image shows the automation rule:

Below is the audit which indicates a permission issue:

However I have link permission in both project and it is confirmed permission helper.

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Hi @LouiseJ Rivet - I see that this is cross-project.  Can you please confirm that in the rule details the scope is either set to "Global" or Multiple Projects with all relevant projects captured?

Hi Mark,

Thank you for your answer we are indeed on a global automation.

Thank you!

Another thing to look at is whether the CPI project has the Issue Links field available in its field configuration/screen

Hi Mark, yes I am able to manually add linked issues on both projects.

Thank you.

Any other suggestions to fix the issue? Thank you!

Maybe verify the rule actor has rights.  Since you've proven you are able to successfully create links with your account, make yourself the rule actor and see if it works.  If it does, it's just a matter of making sure the rule actor account has rights to the applicable projects.
