I have a problem where for a specific project (space) Admin Users & I are unable to change the issue work type directly.
It is possible to use 'Move Issue' and edit the work type but it cannot be simply changed on the issue screen e.g. JIRAname.atlassian.net/browse/spaceID-01 as we are normally used to.
1) The 2 spaces are using different workflows but I've checked and there's no properties to restrict editing on the workflow which isn't working. The workflow on the space which isn't working does have some user group restrictions on certain transitions and also a transition which requires a particular issue type set in order to be available but I can't see why that would be restricting editing on this page.
2) the 2 spaces also use different permissions schemes - similarly checked admin has permissions to perform edit issue
Any suggestions to resolve this would be appreciated
The below screenshot shows the issue type button hover message firstly in a space where it is working as expected and secondly in the new space I've created.
Hello @chris_scottalexander
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
You can only change the item type in that manner if there is another item type in the project that uses the same Workflow as the item you are trying to change.
Is that the case for the space/item where you are not able to change the type?
Thanks for your reply, I'm only using 1 workflow for the Space, all types use the same workflow.
There is a rule within that workflow that items assigned to this type are allowed an additional transition but it's also a problem for cases of the other types within this new Space. My other spaces are fine so far.
Here is the rule with the 'by type' transition restriction. I have other restrictions on different transitions by user group.

Thank you for that additional information.
If you go into the Configure Screen function for the Task screen - is the Issue Type field on the Configure Screen?

Thanks, That seems to have done the trick!
Weirdly I'm sure I tried that previously, perhaps it was on the wrong screen.
