I have a custom field (e.g., “Some XYZ”) that currently has around 10,000 options. In Jira Cloud, I can see the “Optimise” option to reduce the number of options and have generated a list of options that are still in use. However, I don’t see any way to download the unused options from that screen.
Could someone please advise how to export or download the list of unused options, or suggest an alternative approach to achieve this?
Hello and welcome to the Community @PJ385003
Please take a look on this Feature request.
Interesting @PJ385003 🤔
I've just checked this and, by the documentation, you should be able to see and download which options are unused. However, when you navigate to
<site-name>.atlassian.net/jira/settings/issues/custom-fields/<field-id>/options/optimize
There's no option to download the unused options
I believe my colleagues have been playing around with this, so I'll check with them.
In the meantime, you can probably reach out to Atlassian Support just to confirm with them if it's either documentation that is out of date, or the option is in fact missing in the UI 👀
Apart from doing some customizations and REST API calls, I think this would be a way forward, BUT I've also heard people having not-so-good experiences when it comes to these optimization tools (it would remove something that was clearly used), so I would recommend testing this on a sandbox environment before actually using it in production. 👈
Cheers,
Tobi
