Trying to condition a transition to Jira automation user

Hi, I am trying to add a Condition to a workflow transition. I aim to allow the transition only if the transition generator is Automation for Jira user.

Tried doing that with the User condition, but when trying to add the specific user "Automation for Jira" I am not seeing it as an optional user. Tried using "Automation Bot" user, but it didn't do the trick.

Is what I am trying to do possible?

could use some guidance

Thanks

Hi @eyal_silverstein

What about using one of them:

  • Hide From User Condition (can only be triggered from a workflow function or from REST)
  • User Is In Project Role -> atlassian-addons-project-acccess

I believe it should solve your problem.

Thanks, @Tansu Akdeniz; the first part is already working. all other users are not seeing the transition. My problem is that the Jira automation user is also restricted.

when I am setting the user condition I am not seeing "Automation for Jira" as an optional user. i assumed that "Automation bot" is the same and used that user.

I am facing the same problem in user management: how can I assign this user (JAutomation for jira)  a Project role when I am not seeing this user in my user list?

I know it exists because I am seeing it on my items history, I am just unable to find it when editing the condition or setting project role.

@eyal_silverstein - I had a similiar use case and realized I was over thinking it. The requirement was to Hide the transition from users and ensure its locked down to only the JIRA automation user. Unless I am mistaken, hiding the transition from users is how you also lock it down the the JIRA automation user. I was able to meet my need with only the first option of :

  • Hide From User Condition (can only be triggered from a workflow function or from REST)
