Tracking dependancies

Thea de Villiers January 18, 2019

How do you track a dependency between 2 different teams, on the same project?

We add: @user1603166931620.and the persons name , on the story: and he gets the notification- but how is the dependency then tracked:

1. acknowledge the notification

2. respond

3.reminder to respond

Hello Thea,

There are a few ways you can track the time of a dependency. Here are the two most commons:

1 - Use Sub-task issues

Once a story has been transitioned to a specific step (Dependency) which requires the action from a different team, a new sub-task can be created to the team that will be working on that dependency.

For that sub-task, you would configure statuses in your workflow to properly track the things you want.

E.g: Once the sub-task is created, its status would be To-do. Once the issue is visualized by the team, it would be transitioned to a new status (Acknowledge) and so on, so you can properly track their progress.

2 - Use only workflow statuses to track it

Using this option, you would be tracking their progress only using statuses of your workflows, using the filters and mentions to properly engage the team that would work on the dependency.

I personally think option 1 would better organize your team progress and also give you a better view of their individual progress since the sub-task can be assigned to the person responsible for that dependency.

Please, let me know if this information helps.
