I'm very new to JIRA. I've integrated JIRA into our ZenDesk and I want to track how many times a specific issue has occurred.

I've created my Project (ZenDesk) and created an issue, which is now visible in my project. Is there a way to track how many times I see this same issue? Can I track that quantity in this issue?

Thanks!

Hi Ray, welcome to the Community!

Yes BUT if-and-only-if there is some definitive/dependable way to determine a repeat issue. So the question for you is - How can you reliably identify repeat issues?

For example:

  • will the summary of the issue always be the very same or nearly so. If so you could construct a JQL like - project = abc and summary ~ "the sky is falling"
  • can you define a custom field that requires the user to select some value from the drop down and then use this value to identify similar issues w/ a JQL like - project = abc and My-Custom-Field = "sky-falling

there may be other solutions as well but would need to understand more about your work processes and issue creation.

Now once you have come up w/ a means of capturing repeat issues then you can easily use the JQL filter you created/saved and leverage it on a Dashboard. You can read more about Dashboards here - guide-for-new-jira-software-cloud-administrators

LMK, if I can assist further.

Awesome, thank you for responding Jack! I'll read up on this and see if I can make sense of this all.

Thanks again!
