Tool for Sprint Planning?

Hello all,

Does Jira have any tools to help with Sprint Planning so I can plan ahead and see what task will fit in the next sprint and what each team member's proposed workload utilization would be?

For example, if John has 14 tasks, Jane has 12, Will has 10, etc, I want to see what could fit in the next sprint based on original time estimates, etc without starting the sprint. I just want to do planning to see what is possible, etc?

Configuration is few seconds long and You should be ready to go.

Jira's built-in roadmaps are usually more than enough for most sprint planning needs if you keep things simple. I am currently using it to manage the development phases of a personal web application that generates a Destiny matrix chart free, and it helps us break down complex features into manageable user stories. Tracking our two-week velocity has been the most effective way to maintain productivity without getting overwhelmed by third-party plugins.

Jira's out-of-the-box advanced roadmaps combined with a capacity tracker plugin usually works best for sprint planning.

My team is currently under a strict deadline building out timezone features and live data rendering for the hockey world cup 2026 schedule time. Breaking our epics down into much smaller user stories and tracking our historical velocity is the only way we've managed to stay on track during these critical sprints.

What type of Jira Cloud subscription do you have - Free, Standard, or Premium?

If you have Premium, there are capacity planning features in the Advanced Roadmaps feature.

Then I would recommend you explore the Advanced Roadmaps features.

We have only a Standard subscription and don't use Roadmaps, so I don't have actual experience with the feature. I don't know if it provides all that you need.
