Time tracking is incorrect

This story is estimated 8 hours at first.

It has work logged 2 hours.

Then, we changed it to be 1 week (40 hours)

However, the "time remaining" calculation is still not updated.

How can resolve it?

I think this is an outstanding issue with the new UI view, in that you only have a field available, the Original estimate. If you revert back to the old view, you have the additional field Remaining estimate, which is what @Jack Brickey is suggesting you change. If you do that, then your 40h will slowly be reduced as you log time against it.

Yes indeed this is the case with the new view. I fully expect Atlassian will address this oversight and hopefully soon.

IMO, the proper way to do this is to not update the Original estimate but rather update the remaining estimate. This allows you to maintain the OE resulting in lessons learned. That said if you choose to change the OE you must also change the RE. In fact every time you log work you should consider RE and adjust if appropriate.
