Time Tracking Remaining Time Not Updating

Hi All,

We have been using Time Tracking for a few months. Everything has been fine until teams started tracking time on subtasks. The work logs properly but does not seem to change the remaining estimate. Is this a known problem, something unique to our instance or are we just not supposed to work this way?

Any help is appreciated!

Hi Sharon

You can logically expect all Estimated time, Logged time and Remaining time on sub-tasks to sum to the parent and display correctly, as long as you have the Include sub-tasks checkbox ticked.

The easiest thing for you to check is to untick Include sub-tasks and see what you have - I would expect there to be no times showing, but I suspect you may have some, which is skewing the numbers. If so, you need to remove any Estimated, Remaining and Logged times from the parent, so that only the sub-tasks  contribute to these times.

Hi Warren,

You put me on the right track. Some teams are estimating on the parent and then logging work on the subtasks. The numbers do work out correctly but the bars don't update at a glance. Thanks for the quick answer!
