There is a strange behaviour when changing ranking in a filterd backlog with several projects.

If i have lets say 2 projects in one board (ABC, DEF).

and issues in the top of the backlog is ranked as in before status and is then reorder and move ABC-3 over ABC-2 this is the result (as expected)

Before                                    After

ABC-1                                  ABC-1

DEF-1                                   DEF-1

ABC-2                                  ABC-3

ABC-3                                 ABC-2

DEF-2                                  DEF-2

but now i haver a quick filter that filters away project DEF  so only project ABC is visual in the board and i do the same reorder as above and then remove the filter, the outcome will be this:

Before                                    After

ABC-1                                  ABC-1

DEF-1                                   ABC-3

ABC-2                                  DEF-1

ABC-3                                 ABC-2

DEF-2                                  DEF-2

My question is why Issue ABC-3 is jumping 2 rankings when project DEF is not visual?

This is not the case if a issues is moved downwards in priority.

You have mostly answered your own question!  It is because DEF is not visible.  The system is looking at where you are placing the issue in the current rank and when you can't see some of the issues, it places it nearest the one it thinks you are ranking it against.
