Jira Service Management has this feature SHARE button to add people who can view the ticket. Is it possible to have them an email notification to receive updates or status just like what reporters currently receive in email notifications for every update made?

If you share an issue with someone on the portal thru the Share button (or if they are added in the Request Participants on the agent view) (same thing) they will be notified that they are added through the customer notifications.
The initial mail will ask them if they wish to opt out/in to the notifications and then indeed they will be receiving the same notifications as the reporter of the issue.

Just don't confuse this with the "Share" option in the Agent view which will just send them a link in a mail. That link will be the agent view link and they require a license for that (and will not grant them access magically)
