Trying to hide or archive a project.
I understand I can create an 'archive' permission scheme and assign that to the project. However, admins can still see the 'archived' projects. My team of engineers ALL have admin permission because we all create and administer projects, so we can all still see them. Wading through 100 OLD PROJECTS to find our active projects is insane. I'm considering changing software for this very reason. Is there a solution to this problem that I don't know about?
Thanks.
Never is a strong word. Consider maybe that's just your situation. My small team of engineers are all professionals, not children. We have multiple large scale projects going on and we all create and administer these projects. We all need admin access to do this. Our project management is not 'a mess', it actually works quite well aside from wasting a lot of time on complex Jira configuration and having to dig through lists of old projects. I expect my tools to adapt to my process, not the other way around.
The simple fix of removing the 'browse' role from the scheme does not actually work. I have removed it, but we can still all see the projects.
Jira is missing an important feature and this is a workaround at best which doesn't really work. It's a simple and necessary feature requested by many on this very forum.
Thanks.

Argh, no, you should never let this happen. This is why it's a mess.
Anyway, on to the problem as presented. The "archive" permission scheme probably names the admin group as the one able to see the archived projects. The simple fix is to change that so that it is a specific group with only a handful of people in it, not the admins.
Your admins will still see the full list in the admin section (that's what they're for - an admin needs access to everything, which is a reason you should only have 2-3 admins), but during normal non-admin use, only the people in the "can see archive" group will see the projects.
