Text Field (Read Only) can this be set by an Effector in Structure?

I need a read-only field to store an ID that is created programmtically based on that issue's location within a Jira Structure. 

We had this working using a regular text field, but wanted to remove the chance of anyone editing the issue and manually changing the value. We changed the field to a Text Field (Read Only), and now the Effector throws the error: 

Attribute value with "any" format cannot be stored in the field fieldname

Is it not possible to set the value of a Text Field (Readonly) in this way?

It is not possible for an Effector to write into a read-only field, it can only update fields that users themselves can update manually. Effectors are not designed to overcome these restrictions.
