Team Managed Project Unable to amend Resolution making all reporting redundant
I can see the column Resolution:
There is no way to update this field and therefore all of the reporting does not report on when tickets have either been done (in the workflow) or invalid. There is no post function available to make changes to this field AND there is no way to bulk update this field.
Clearly there is a problem with Jira??
Hi @Allan Bodgers and welcome to the Community!
I am not sure if there is a problem with Jira, but you did run into one (of the) limitation(s) of team managed projects.
These have been designed to make the admin experience of Jira projects simpler and accessible to - basically - every Jira user. But that does come with a flipside: a lot of the power that is offered via the powerful setup of company managed projects is not there.
Using company managed projects you will be perfectly able to control your resolutions, among many other things. From your question, it seems you are a user that may benefit from that.
This support article may be a good starting point to learn more about the differences between both project types.
Hope this helps!
Thanks - the limitation should be fixed as the only way to fix the limitation is to create an automation to update the Resolution (system)...which goes against the limit of automation usage per month.
That's just a way for Jira to generate extra cash to update on of their system files. There is no way to update the Resolution (system) in any other way.

There is no limit on automation rules that run within a single project, @Allan Bodgers. That limit applies to global automation rules (that run across multiple projects).
And indeed, as @Najm Polaris rightfully mentions, when you move an issue into a Done status the resolution date (resolved if you want to see it in issue search and/or JQL) is filled out. So you can report on that in team managed projects.
If you want to distinguish between different types of done statuses, you can add multiple statuses in your workflow (e.g. Done vs Cancelled).
And once more, if you would like to use the full possibilities you may know from the server/data center version of Jira, that is available using Company Managed projects.
