Hello, we have boards that are generated from multiple projects filtering by specific fields. When we organize the Kanban board by Epic swimlanes, we encounter several issues:

1. Missing Epics: We solved this by adding the following to the filter "AND type = epic AND "Epic Status" is not EMPTY". However, in some Boards, we are still missing Epics.

2. Missing Tasks: Even when we can visualize swimlane Epics from the different projects, tasks are missing even though the column counter indicates properly the total number of tasks per column. Switching to swimlanes organized by Assignee show properly all of the Tasks.

We verified that the missing Tasks are those that were created in one Project, but linked to an Epic in another Project. Even if we filter by both projects, the tasks disappear if the swimlanes are organized by Epic.

Any idea how to resolve this issue?

Hello Alicia,

Welcome to the community.

If you execute the board filters outside of the board, do you get all the issues you expect?

Are all the issues that you expect displayed in the board if you are NOT organizing the board swimlanes by Epic?

Regarding the missing Tasks, are those tasks assigned to Epics? When you organize the board swimlanes by Epic, any issue not in an Epic but otherwise within the parameter of the board filter should display at the bottom of the board in a swimlane labeled Everything Else.

Can you provide us with a copy of your filter to help us debug the problem?

Hi Trudy, we were actually able to resolve the issue. It seems like we need to actively ensure all Epics are included so that they can be used to organized the swimlanes. We resolved the issue by adding the following to our filter query:

"OR project in (Project 1,Project 2, ..., Project n) AND type = epic AND "Epic Status" is not EMPTY ORDER BY Rank ASC."

That is, we need to include all projects used in the board, including the home project the Board was created for.
