Hi,

I would like to use task lists (checkboxes) in ticket descriptions by setting them as the default value of a custom field.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Go to Jira Administration > Issues > Custom Fields
  2. Select the target field and open "Edit Default Value"
  3. Enter text that includes task list items using [] syntax
  4. Create a new ticket

Expected behavior: The [] items should render as interactive task list checkboxes in the ticket body.

Actual behavior: The [] items are displayed as plain text and do not render as checkboxes.

Example of the default value I am trying to set:

h1. Deployment Procedure
[] Notify in the infra

h1. Double Check
[] Required
[] Not required

Could you please advise on:

  1. Is there a supported syntax for task lists / checkboxes that works within custom field default values?
  2. If this is not currently supported, is there a workaround to achieve this?

Thank you.

Hello @成真 尾嵜

Welcome to the Community!!

In native Jira, we can manually add action items in the Description field or the Comment field (the text fields that use the wiki-style renderer).

However, to prepopulate data in an issue or work item, you will need to use a marketplace app, as this is not supported natively.
