Hello there,
I have the following problem:
My test team tests for 4 different teams, we do the acceptance testing. Due to reasons, our test period starts when the team's sprints are done.
The setup that the teams have today is that they "own" the Done status, i.e they are the ones closing the Story (Done is the status of the last column on their boards). That means that we have to reopen the story in order to work with it which if course means extra work and headaches. I would want the teams to use e.g Ready for Release instead of Done. Ready for release however is not a "Closed status" and the concern that the teams have is that their burndowns and other statistics will be messed up.
So my question is: If the teams were to use the Ready for Release status instead of Done, would that make any difference for their burndown etc? My hypothisis is that the status of the last column of their board is what dictates "done" for them, and that they do not need the actual Done status. Does anyone know for sure how this works?
Kind regards
Ann
Your hypothesis is correct. Make the "ready for release" status the "done" thing and drop the done status off the board.
Woho! :) Will the team have to change anything anywhere or will it just be as nothing ever happend?
And thank you for a superfast answer!!!

The board is just a view of issues, changing the config of the board won't affect the issues. It will just change which status the board sees as "done".
Your team will just see one less column on their board, they don't need to do anything!

@Nic Brough -Adaptavist- if I were to use the "Ready for Release" as the "Done" status, then as the software team works on the tickets, they move it to "Ready for Release", but then once the tickets have actually been released, how would we know of that status?

Map all the "done" status into the last column on that team's board. Other teams (like the release team) can use different boards with different definitions.
