Swimlanes

I am trying to have the board show up as swimlane in rows not columns. Is there a way to change to this? i have it setup to have the board with Stories and the Stories above the columns does not display. Please let me know how to do this... I read the directions and followed then but they did not display the way I expected.

Not sure I understand your question - to clarify:

• Columns are for statuses - to track progression across your board. For an issue to show up on your board, its status must be in a column.
• Swimlanes are to break your work into groups - and can be based on any metadata available in your Jira instance (using JQL).

It sounds like you're trying to remove all your columns and manage work via swimlanes as statuses, is this correct? Possible - although I would ask why as columns are designed to help you manage across the board.

Or I've misunderstood and please explain more :)

you are correct... I can not seem to get the horizontal swim lane, I want to create a story based swim lane.

Story                   Task                      Inprocess                resolved             done

like to eat             but meat           move from task        ready for qa       tested and done

                            buy bread            "    "                        "   "                        

                           make sandwich

I hope this example explains it better.    I selected swim lanes when I created the board but it is not displayed as horizontal swim lane.
