Swimlane Due Date

Teodor August 31, 2018

I am Unable to configure swimlane so that the issues are sorted on the Kanban Board by order of Due Date DESC. (I am using JIRA Cloud)

Exact syntax used is:

project = "..." AND issuetype in (...) AND status in (...) ORDER BY due date DESC

To note is that over time, multiple 'Due date' custom fields have been configured by various admins etc:

So when I begin to type Due, these are the suggestions I get. It is quite ugly, but I know that the Due Date field that is being used in my project is the Due date - cf[11601]. However once I select that option, the filter then looks like this:

When I return to the board, the issues there are not being sorted by the order they are Due in at all. I have also tried using "Due date", as well as "cf[11601]".

Any suggestions? I have also tried the other due date options and they similarly do not produce results.

Any help much appreciated!

Hello, @Teodor!

If I were you, I'd try to rename this field to something unique so that you wouldn't mix up all the fields.

You can additionally teach your admins that there's no need to create multiple fields with the same name. It's enough to include more projects/issue types in the context of the field in question.

Hi Greg!

I was considering this, however this field is used across a ton of projects, and I believe that changing its name will mess with other filters...

I could configure a new Due Date field with a unique identifier (Due Date 1 let's say).

However we currently have a ton of issues active in the project, so if I remove the current Due Date field and replace it with the one I configure, will we lose that data?

Yes, all this may be a problem.

Depending on the number of issues in your project it may be reasonable to create an additional field with the unique name and copy the values.

You may use the method described by @Tyler C. Borg in this article:

A way to bulk copy custom field values from one custom field to another.
