Summary data when a filter is applied on the board shows data not relevant to the applied filter

Hello,

In an existing project, I have several tasks which are very old and are now obsolete. I had the need to create a new Kanban board to track efforts towards a new initiative in a continuous manner.

I created this Kanban board to start from a clean slate where I applied the filter to only pick those work items created after 8th September, 2025. While the board is now clean, the Summary section shows all the widgets not considering the applied filter.

I have a workaround where I can explicitly apply the filter again and proceed, however, I believe this is not the expected behaviour as the board filter should persist at the Summary level data too.

Please help me with any other workarounds which persist. Thanks in advance!

Hey @Aishwarya Ganapathy ,

I'd say this is 'known limitation' > see this suggestion: JSDCLOUD-16187: Ability to customise the content of the project Summary(feature) Page

Basically, the Summary page/tab shows content from the whole project, now just items that are filtered within a specific board. Meaning, it is not connected to a board (where the "Timeline" tab is).

If you would like a Summary page that only displays items from a board filter, you would probably need to create a dashboard and construct something similar.

One more thing worth mentioning is Atlassian Home dashboards. This is a relatively new thing, still in beta, but you could try to recreate visualizations that are more similar to the Summary tab than by using native Jira dashboards. 👀

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Tobi

Thank you very much for your response, Tobi. Having a dashboard essentially leads me to a different place from the project and we already have too many dashboards created causing us to lose context of our journey. Will checkout the Home Dashboards feature though, many thanks!
