Since a few days I cannot create new issues in my project (no user). It always comes the error message that a category would have to be selected. This was not the case until now and we have no categories defined in the project.
Now I have tried in vain to introduce categories, but in the selection field of the issue still no category can be selected.
What is the reason that this field suddenly becomes a mandatory field and can I reset this?
Thank you very much

Does your project have a shared field configuration?
Has someone changed the configuration to make Category a mandatory field?
Check the custom field settings for Category to see where else it might be used.

Hi @Tobias Stoll ,
Got it, thank you! :) I remembered my classes in German 10+ years ago :D
Can you go to Project settings -> Issues -> Fields -> Edit and then see if the field is a required one from there?
