Subtasks don't show in the Done column (Jira Work Management project)

Marta Perez January 22, 2025

Hello,

I am working on a Company managed Jira business project (Jira Work Management) and I am not able to map any status in the board.

I have kept the workflow simple (to do, work in progress and done) but the subtask dont appear in the done column once they are done.

I am not sure if this is a normal configuration of this type of project but I kinda need to see the progress of the subtask as I use it visually to calculate how much work has been done.

Do you know if it is possible to change this?

On another note: I dont see the issues (stories or tasks) "strikethroughed" (done) once they are done, it only happens to the subtasks, even if the resolution is set in the workflow. In jira and JSM it works normally. Is it normal too?

Thank you in advance.

(In the attachment you will see that I have changed the icons of the task and the subtasks but the issue in the done column is a task issue type). Captura de pantalla 2025-01-23 081034.png

Hello @Marta Perez

In a Business/Work Management project you do not have the option to map statuses to columns. Each column corresponds to one status in the workflow.

Subtasks will display collapsed/nested within their parent task, regardless of the subtask's status. You can view the subtasks by clicking on the 1/3 link in the parent task card. This is by design for the built in board for that type of project and cannot be changed.

It sounds like you are familiar with how boards for Software projects work. If you want to see your Work Management project data in that type of board, you can do that by creating and saving a filter to get the issues from that project, and then creating a new board based on that saved filter.

Thank you @Trudy Claspill

I will do that! What about my other point? Can you help?

I see the strikethrough on the issue key for Done issues only when looking at the Child Issues/Subtasks display within a parent issue. And only for issues where the Resolution field is set.

I don't see strikethrough in the cards on the Board view nor in the List view.
