Structure display roadmap children in a column?

Can the "advanced roadmap" children of an issue be displayed in their own column?

I know about the extender "child issues from advanced roadmaps", but this shows them as nested items under their parent.

I would like them in their own column.

Even more specifically I'm hoping I can get the list of children as an array to use in formulas.

Note: I am *not* talking about Epics and their children.
