Hi,

I am creating scrum boards for a project and need some advice around swimlanes combined with a component filter at the Board Settings Level.

When we set a JQL filter on the General tab in Board Settings to filter for a specific component, our Story swimlanes disappear. We have tried multiple versions of JQL and the same thing happens. When we apply the same JQL at the Quick Filter setting, the swim lanes remain

1. Component is set at the Epic & Story Level

2. Board swimlanes are set to "Base Swimlanes on Stories"

3. Board General Filter JQL is

project = BE AND (issuetype in (Epic, Story, Task, Sub-task) AND component = OTC OR issuetype = Epic AND component is EMPTY) ORDER BY Rank ASC

If I remove the Board General Filter and instead use Component = OTC in the Quick Filter setting, then apply the filter - the Story swimlanes are present.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas?

Hello @agarrett ,

When using the swimlane set to Story the issues displayed on the board will be the Sub-task level issues that exist in the parent Story, but when also applying the Component only issues will be displayed that have a component set on the direct issue will be shown and since the issue is the Child issue that does not contain a component value in the field it will be ignored and should not be displayed at this time.

Currently there is not a native option to inherit the component from the parent and you would need to look at third party apps.

However, this one has been brought up as a paired feature Request and Bug Report  and Currently falls into a FUG status, noting that it was initially closed out as a "Won't Fix" all the way back in 2015, as there were several add-ons that could be used to complete the same action,, but due to continued interest, comments and voting from customers on the requests we re-opened and added this one to the short term backlog, the details can be seen on the following requests.  Please make sure to follow the requests by adding yourself as a watcher if you want updates on the status:

Currently we are planing the addition of this functionality but at the moment you would need to use one of the noted add-on apps to be able to accomplish this.

Regards,
Earl
