Status category - How to categorize the way intended by Atlassian

Christian Sieber June 17, 2019

Hello everybody,

I wonder about the way Atlassian intended the status categories to be used. Up to today I was in the opinion only statuses at the beginning of a wokflow should be added to category "To Do", final statuses in category "Done" and every Status between in category "In Progress". But by today I Reviewed a Workflow designed by a colleague and he added all waiting-statuses to the "To do" category.

What's the way intended by Atlassian?

The First sketch shows my Colleagues categorizing-concept, the 2nd Shows mine.

Thank you & regards
Christian

2nd one is more close Atlassian recommendation but I don't see any reason why "Ready for... " can't be under To-Do category. I guess do what you prefer. If nothing is happening with the issue at a moment then blue colour might reflects that state  better (Just my opinion)

There is already a discussion about adding more categories using some hacks or workarounds because Atlassian won't add more.

Hello Ravi,

thanks for your reply. I've read the other discussions already, but there was no clear answer, yet. Where can I find the Atlassian recommendation and maybe their Definition of the Staus categories?
