Start date automation

Giselle Rebeca Thomé Gataz May 26, 2025
I created an automation to create tasks that repeat in an epic. Is it possible to automatically insert the "start date" from the completion data of the previous task that is a predecessor for calculating the end of the epic? The intention is to have visibility of the start and end of all tasks as we have in "MS Project" the overview of the end of the project.

Hi @Giselle Rebeca Thomé Gataz

The answer depends upon how you are creating the Tasks in the rule:

  • when creating them one-by-one by precedence, with no branching in the rule, the answer is "yes": the rule may refer to the most recently created one to set the date value
  • however if the rule uses branching, the answer is "no": such branches process in parallel and they is rarely a way to create / update them in a defined order

Kind regards,
Bill
