Sprints Suggestion showing deleted sprints with zero issues

Hello,

I did some cleanup and deleted a few sprints while moving all issues to the backlog or other sprints. 

Regardless that I still see those sprints in sprint suggestion field and advanced search under the sprint filed

My question is how to clean completely any memory of those unused sprints names

Thank you for reaching out.

Per your description, I believe the Sprints displayed in the Sprint drop-down are still active in your site, however, no issues are added to them and the boards related to the Sprint were deleted.

We have a bug report about this behavior:

On agility projects, related sprints remain active after a board is deleted 

Feel free to vote and watch the bug to increase its priority and also receive notifications about its fix implementation.

To properly delete the orphaned Sprint, you can follow the workaround steps below:

1. Create a new issue in your board backlog
2. Add the issue with the orphaned Sprint
3. After these steps, the sprint will be displayed on your board. Click on the three dots menu > Delete Sprint to properly delete it:
   
4. Delete the Issue you created in step one
