Sprint reports ignore “Complete” status although it shares the Done status category

When reviewing my sprint reports after sprint closure, I noticed that one of my Jira boards only recognizes issues with the status “Done” as completed, but does not recognize tickets with the issue status “Complete.” Both statuses have statusCategory = Done and mark the resolution as complete or done, respectively. Additionally, in the board configuration, both statuses are mapped under the same “Done” column.

As a result, I am receiving inaccurate reports and am unable to determine how to get “Complete” tickets to appear correctly. Confusingly, this issue does not occur on any other board—only on one specific product‑wide board that we are using. It has also been reported that this issue did not occur in the past.

Hello @Michelle Hearn

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

The status alone does not determine if an issue is considered complete in a Sprint. Regardless of the Category of the Status, it is having the status mapped to the right-most column of the board that determines that the item is complete in the sprint.

If your issues appear on more than one Scrum board, and they are in a status in any Scrum board that is not mapped to the right-most column, that can make the issue appear as incomplete.

I'm not sure if the "multiple boards" situation matches your scenario, but you might want to look into that.

This is how the boards configurations are set up. I do not believe that this is the issue.

What type of Space is the one that uses the Complete status?

What type of space is the one that uses the Done status?

What is the work item type of the items that use the Complete status?

Do those work items include subtasks?

What report are you referencing that provides inaccurate results?

Hi @Michelle Hearn

Both status have to be in the most right column of the sprint board, only then items are considered burned (Done) in a sprint

So if status Complete is linked to a different board column, that is not the most right one, these items will be carried over to the next sprint or be on the backlog again.

Hi @Michelle Hearn

Are the work items on the board from a single space or, from multiple spaces?

Is the Team board a Scrum board, this as Done work is shown as burned, but this status is not on the Team board, but it;'s on the multi team board, so these are work items from another team that are shown as "burned" in the sprint report of the team using the workflow with status Done?

Hi @Michelle Hearn,

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

What exactly is the problem? Are those issues not appearing in the report at all, or are they shown but not counted as resolved? Do you see those issues on the board itself?

Some concrete examples would be helpful.

The mapping of the statuses looks correct to me, I would recommend checking the board settings, especially the underlying filters.

Danut.
