×Is it possible to connect two boards ( SPRINT and SPRINT BUGS ) to the very same sprint and the very same backlog?
Hello @Réka Fulmer
Welcome to the community.
Do your boards already exist or are you trying to figure out how you want to configure new boards?
Are you working with Classic projects or NextGen projects?
The following answer applies to working with boards that will be associated to Classic projects.
Boards are based on filters. You can have multiple boards that use the same filter. That filter can reference a single project or multiple projects. You can have boards that reference the same project but only retrieve a subset of the issues in the project; i.e. a board that shows only the Bug issues and one that shows only the Story issues.
When a sprint is created, it is created within a specific board. While that sprint contains no issues, it will be visible only in the board in which it was created.
However, there is nothing in JIRA that limits the issues that can be added to the sprint to only the issues that appear in its parent board. You can Edit an individual issue and manually set its Sprint field to any Sprint that has been defined in JIRA, even if that sprint is associated with an entirely different project.
When a sprint has issue in it, that sprint will be displayed in any board where the board filter encompasses issues contained in the sprint.
Example:
Project A has issues A-1, A-2, A-3
Project B has issues B-1, B-2, B-3
You have set up Scrum boards for each project;
- BoardA is based on the filter "project = A"
- BoardB is based on the filter "project=B"
You create a sprint "Sprint 1-BoardA" in BoardA.
You add issues A-1 and A-2 to "Sprint 1-BoardA" through the board backlog screen.
In BoardB you currently do not see "Sprint 1-BoardA".
You manually edit issue B-1 and manually set its Sprint field to "Sprint 1-BoardA".
Now "Sprint 1-BoardA" displays in BoardB, because the sprint contains an issue that is within the filter scope for Board B.
Hi @Réka Fulmer ,
if you create multiple Scrum boards on the same project, they will all use the same backlog and sprints.
Let me know if this helps,
