This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: What is a Project

In Agile Sprint methodology, the requirements are stated as backlog items.

Each sprint, some of this backlog items are selected for development, so they become sprint backlog items.

So can we assume that each component within a project can be considered as a backlog?

and the issues as task breakdowns for implementing each sprint backlog item/

No.

A component is a way of showing that an issue is related to a specific part (or several parts) of the project.  A backlog is a list of issues you need to deal with.
