Show only specific current Quarter Epics in Backlog epics panel

We have a bunch of epics, but every quarter we pick specific ones to work on. However, we currently have all the epic available in Jira, except the Done ones.

How can I filter the epics by Quarter or other fields, so that we can show only the epics we're going to work on in the current quarter in the Epics panel (not in the actual backlog jira items list)?

For the epics you want to not show in the backlog, do you also want to not show any child issues in those epics?

You can modify the filter associated with the board to include only what you want in the board or exclude only specific items. Can you share the current filter? There are a variety of ways it might be modified, but it depends on how your filter is currently constructed.

There is a caveat to this, though. Each time you modify the filter for the board that will change the content of your Reports for that board, including the historic reports. Those reports are generated on demand based on the current filter of the board. Instead of modifying the filter, you may want to create a secondary board that shows the subset data.
