Should release/version, include just epics or also the child stories and tasks?

I'm new to Jira and could not find any recommended best practices for the version/release feature related to which issues should be included. Should I only include the epics that belong to that release/version, or should I also include each child user story, task, bug, etc.

Typically you would include the stories, tasks, and bugs in a release, not the Epics.
