Hi, I’ve noticed an odd behavior when using short text fields where the entered text ends up misaligned from the field name. The issue occurs when viewing/editing a screen in the list view. When you are actively typing in the field, the contents are at the same level.
However, once the data is entered the field expands to twice the height.
I thought that maybe it was happening because that was the set height for the field and having a longer string of text would fill in the space but that isn’t the case. It continues to add an empty line above.
I added text boxes to highlight the alignment of various fields as they appear on the screen. The misaligned entries are all short text fields.
I don’t recall this always being the case. Maybe I’m just doing something wrong? I’m considering opening a ticket to inquire about this but I figured I should first check with the community to see if someone else has encountered this and might have a solution. Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Welcome to the community.
As mentioned by @Gor Greyan I can't reproduce this as well.
I have tried multiple instances, but as mentioned, this seems like an UI thing in your browser.
Please use an incognito window or other browser, also check for browser add-ons that might are active and could cause rendering isuses.
Clear your cache and cookies as the options above fix the issue.
I hadn't even considered it could be a local rendering issue. Clearing the cache and cookies resolved it. Thanks for the suggestion!

Hi @Michael Leiva
Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
I haven't come across this behavior in Jira Cloud with standard short text fields.
Does it occur in another browser or an incognito/private window?
It looks more like a UI rendering issue than a field configuration issue. If you can reproduce it consistently across browsers and projects, it may be worth raising a support ticket with Atlassian so they can investigate whether it's a regression.

Yup, the behavior persisted in an incognito window but I cleared the cache and cookies like Marc suggested and it resolved the issue. Thanks for your response!
