Setting up security levels

Scott Baxter December 7, 2021

I am trying to use security levels to hide certain issues.   When I go to the Issue Default Screen the security level field is listed.  However, it does not display as an available field in the Issue Layout screen, so I am unable to populate it.

I am an Administrator, so I wouldn't think it was related to permissions.

Any thoughts?

Scott

There is a permissions thing - the permission scheme needs to grant you "set issue security" to allow you to set a level on create or during an edit or transition.

However, this is not what is happening in your case - if you do not have the permission to set security, Jira simply doesn't offer you the field.

I suspect you've run into something that's not blindingly obvious.  You can only set the issue security to a level you yourself are in.  You can't (manually) hide an issue from yourself!

(Admin permissions are irrelevant here - admin means admin, not can do everything)
