Dear Team,

I am using the software written in Java which uses the JIRA's REST client to sync the issues from the Redmine to JIRA, using the create and update endpoint.

I am using IssueInputBuilder.setAssigneeName() but the Issues are created without the Assignee field updated.

Could you please help me suggest what is the right procedure to update the assignee filed while creating/updating the issues in the JIRA cloud?

Also, please let me know if there is an endpoint that can fetch all the users assigned to a certain project using the Admin REST API Key. If I could fetch all the users I would basically compare the display name string received from JIRA with Redmine's display mane and update the assignee filed for an issue in JIRA.

please pass some example references for the Java REST client.

Thanks in advance,

Srini.

Hello @srinivasan.r ,

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Can you kindly let us know whether you are using the JIRA REST Java Client Library  (link below) or anything else?

In case you are using JRJC please notice that, as mentioned in the section named "Compatibility with Jira", it's only supposed to work against Jira Server, while you have opened this question for Jira Cloud:

The Jira REST Java Client works with Jira Server, but not with Jira Cloud.

Further details in THIS COMMENT:

This should be designated as a library for Jira Server only.

That being said, while it may appear to work for resources/methods against Jira Cloud instances, it is not maintained and in sync with the cloud APIs.

In case you are not using JRJC, please provide more details on what you are using.

Finally, for the future, please notice that this is not the best place to get help on development  related questions. The right resources are listed in https://developer.atlassian.com/resources.

Specifically:

Cheers,
Dario

Thank you Dario,

Thanks for the direction, I will write the question in "Developer Community" and seek further assistance.

From your answer, I understand the current Java Library which we use "com.atlassian.jira:jira-rest-java-client-core:5.2.2" is not compatible with Jira cloud, beign agreed on, that could you please point me to the JAVA library appropriate for JIRA Cloud

Srini.

Hi @srinivasan.r ,

The Developers Community is indeed the right place for this kind of topics.

However, from my side, I can help point you to the right documentation. You can find a list of the available frameworks to build Connect Apps is in the below page:

Atlassian frameworks

We've written two different frameworks to help you get started. These frameworks help to generate some of the plumbing required for your Connect app, and are officially supported by Atlassian:

Additional options

Atlassian and our excellent developer community have also written a number of other frameworks that you can use. These frameworks are not supported by Atlassian but they may be supported by members of the community:

You may also want to give a look at the new way to build apps (Forge):

In any case, in the below page you can find guides, examples and sample apps for both, Forge and Connect:

In case of further questions on this topic please ask the Developers Community.

Cheers,
Dario
