Set a custom property according an artihmetic rule

Laetitia Gascon May 31, 2023

Hi,

I'd like to set a property called "B" according to an artihmetic rule. Precisely I want the property to be A if the ticket number is 1 to 13 and B if 14, and A if the ticket number is between 15 to 28 then B if 29 and so on..

Do you know an rule to achieve this ?

Best,

Laetitia

Hi @Laetitia Gascon

You could do this with an automation rule.  You could do this with conditions or a lookup table.

Do you have a rule started?  If so, please post your rule so the community can offer suggestions.  If not, to get you started on creating your rule, please review this documentation and examples:

The basics of your rule could be:

  • trigger: the field changes
  • if/else condition:
    • advanced compare condition: to test the field range for one of your cases
  • else condition:
    • action: edit the field to the other value

Of note: what do you want to happen if people manually edit your calculated field?  You could use another rule to detect that condition, and so force the recalculation.

Kind regards,
Bill
