Sending or redirecting email notification to a different mail address than the one used to login

Deleted user July 29, 2020

Hello guys,

Hope everyone is doing well during this chaotic period !

Context for this question:
I'm working on a team which has multiple emails addresses to monitor and can get pretty easy to miss responding in a timely manner on tickets, but for the scope of a simple explication let's just refer to "Mail A" and "Mail B".
"Mail A" is the main address used for day-to-day communication and working

"Mail B" is the address used for a specific client Jira

Can Jira be setup in such way that you can continue to login with "Mail B", but receive the notification on "Mail A"? (one mention here is that redirecting emails received on "Mail B" to "Mail A" has caused us a delay in receiving those notifications and currently I'm looking for other alternatives, if any)

Does Jira has any add-on which can be configured to send the mail notifications to "Mail A"?

Waiting forward for any reply.

Thank you in advance,

-Tooky

Hello @Angélica Luz

Thank you for your reply!

The suggestion regarding Watchers is not a viable option for the project I am referring to. To make it more clear, this user (@Sir TooKy) and the products I am using are for my own knowledge and development in order to create a more healthy Jira flow and use process in the workplace.

I was also looking into "Email this issue" as an add-on, but that will require extra "work"  from a person in order to notify "Mail A". It is generally "preferred" to do less for more.

One solution I stumbled upon and end up using is the Automation feature presented in Jira:

One simple rule that needs to be created and adapted for each individual user that wants notifications on another mail than the one used for login.

I will leave this as a posible solution if anyone stumbles upon the same problem.

Kind regards,

-Tooky

Hello @[deleted],

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

Thank you for the details. I understand what you would like to do.

A feature in Jira that would allow other users that are not the reporter to receive notifications is the "Watchers". In this case, Watchers must also be a licensed user, so, in my opinion, it would not be a good option because you would be paying two licenses, or since your site it's Free, use 2 of the 10 licenses available for the same person that uses different email addresses.

If you were using Jira Service Desk, you could use the "Request participants" features, where it's possible to add anyone and since they would be customers, they wouldn't count as a license. So, the "Mail B" would be the reporter and "Mail A" the participant.

Regarding an add-on, there is one that can send emails to users outside of the organization, but unfortunately, this add-on is not available for Cloud Free. In case you want to upgrade your plan to Standard, you can use Email this issue

In case you want to know more about Jira Service Desk, below is the complete documentation:

If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Angélica
