Hello, I just notice that the search box on jira boards seems to break when you put some special char in the resquest.
For exemple i tried searching for "B]", result show me all issues with a "b" or "B" and ignored the "]"
Idem with " > " char. Some people format the issue label list "module > description", searching for ">" char doesn't give any results, even when I include the module name.
the simple quote "'" also have weird result. Searching for single quote alone doesn't give any result, searching for "n't" doesn't easer but looking for "doesn't" works.
Sorry if this is not the correct section to report an issue, but couln't find any other.
Best wishes for the new year.
Regards
Lionel
I just tried all the cases you describe and they worked for me with a Chrome browser on a Jira Software space (i.e., project) with a Kanban board.
What type of space and board are you using?
Have you tried these page diagnostic techniques:
Kind regards,
Bill
The image you show is the Backlog view for a Team-managed space / project. My testing was instead for a Company-managed one. When I tested with a Team-managed space, I also observed the Search Box did not find those non-alphanumeric characters.
I checked JAC and do not see an open defect for this symptom. As you are on a paid license level, you may ask your Jira Product Admin to submit a defect to Atlassian Support here: https://support.atlassian.com/contact/#/

In general, non-alphanumeric characters, such as + . , * / % ^ $ # @ [ ], aren't indexed for search and are ignored in queries.
Exceptions include email addresses and URLs.

these char not being indexed makes sense but i'm prety sure the filter used to work.
Just to clarify, this works well on the big "search box" on top of the sreen but i'm refering to the, ... how would you call it, quick filter on top of the list next to the assignee filter.

I also cleared the browser cache and reload the page to be sure but doen't change the outcome.

Same behaviour.
I'll ask my admin to report the issue as Bill suggested.
Thanks for the help.
