Scrumboard and filtering backlog

Devon Chu July 1, 2020

Hi

Just wondering on how to create a private Scrum board that is linked to a project the user can create the board but cannot change its settings. Not sure wether or not he can do or does he need to be a global admin to do it.

Also how would I be able to filter / sort JIRAs by creation time though the backlog. Also how would i be able to filter out the done/completed story points from a backlog so i can only see the issues

Hi Devon, welcome to the Community. Let me see if I can help.

  1. if the user creates the board then they own it and can edit the board settings
  2. generally folks sort the backlog by rank so that the issues can be manually sorted. However, if you wish to sort by creation date that can be done by adding the following to your filter that defines the board- Order by createddate ASC (or desc if you wish newest first)
  3. for the Done issues they will disappear when the sprint completes. However, You can also choose to add a Quick filter (statuscategory != Done) to temporarily filter (hide the Done issues). Or if you never want to see Done issues (which would be odd TBH) you can change the general board filter to not include Done issues.

I’m not sure what you mean by private scrum board. If you simply want to create a scrum board you can do so as follows:

  1. go to the view all boards page (click in search box and then click on boards button at the bottom)
  2. click on create board
  3. choose scrum board
  4. choose the method by which you wish to create the board and follow the remaining prompts.

here is an article that might be useful - create-a-board
