Scrum board Company managed - DONE do not disappear ever.

Artattack Group Srl July 6, 2023

hello folks,

it's been quite a while but after several sprints I think something is not working properly: the tasks in DONE column are visible and never disappear!

in this way we have long DONE columns per each swimlane and the board is useless and messed up.

initially i thought it was caused when issues were migrated from a closed sprint to the new one, but... sooner or later.. something was closed in the active sprint and therefore should not appear in the new one...

any hint? :(

Hi @Artattack Group Srl,

Before asking anything else: where is the Done column on your scrum board? Is it the rightmost column on the board or is there a column next to it (e.g. cancelled, ...). Issues in a sprint are only considered done when they are in that rightmost column. If they are in any other column, they will not be considered done and remain there forever, as you mention.

Hope this helps!

hello sir :)

this is our config

since the last one is for idle, they could set resolution as well for the end of the sprint..

maybe this could be the problem, as you suggested?

i tryed to compact even more, deleting the last one, moving the status in the DONE column, but this seems not to have solved the issue :(

Hello @Artattack Group Srl

@Walter Buggenhout 's original answer applies to your scenario.

Your Done column was not the column farthest to the right. When closing a sprint only the issues in the column farthest to the right will be considered "complete". Issues in all other columns will be considered "incomplete" and moved to the backlog or to the next sprint, per your specification.

The assessment of "complete" or "incomplete" in this case is based entirely on the position of the issue in the column farthest to the right. It doesn't matter what the actual statuses are for issues in that column, nor whether or not the Resolution is being set.

If you change the status/column mapping so that the Done status is mapped to the column farthest to the right, that will only impact the current and future sprints. Done issues that were carried forward from previous sprints will still be in the current sprint.

ty, so maybe we shall wait for the sprint to close, to "clear things up" as I changed the logic, as you suggested, leaving "DONE" as the farthest column..?

Yes, when you complete the current sprint, issues in the farthest right column should be considered complete. They should no move to the backlog or appear in future sprints.
