When using JIRA's new version, it appears that there is a limit on the number / total size of screenshots that one can attach to a ticket. This limit doesn't seem to apply to the old version. Any plans to increase it to allow for more screenshots in the new version too? If not, can you share what this limit is so that we can use what's available more wisely in the future.

Details of problem encountered are below.

  • After a comment containing some screenshots was added to a ticket, ALL the screenshots attached to the ticket (and not just those in that comment) were no longer displayed; as in, their placeholders were still visible, but the screenshots weren't able to be loaded/displayed.
  • The browser console showed a status code of 431, supposedly indicating that the request to download the media was too large.
  • On removing a few screenshots from the comment, the remaining screenshots added via that comment and in the rest of the ticket, all re-appeared and were displayed normally. So, it looks like there is indeed a limit.
  • We didn't spend time in determining the limit, but did notice that the "old view" was able to continue to display all the screenshots, even after we exceeded the limit in the new view (screenshots added when using the new view do not render in a user-friendly format in the old view, however, so we couldn't use the old view anyway and ended up adding the additional screenshots to a Confluence page).

Thanks!

There is a possibility that the attachment size might have changed after you upgraded Jira to a newer version, so I would suggest you to look at the "attachment file size" limit from settings --> system --> attachments (under advanced) --> Attachment Size.
