Hello!
I am hoping to use Jira for a variety of projects at work in our small research company. I am having trouble finding either the right template or method for one of our main projects.
We receive samples from customers which either need:
Analysis only, Match only or Match & Analysis.
The workflow starts as one and then splits depending on what the customer wants.
I have been using a 'process control' template as the process is repetitive and have created a workflow. I have also created automatons that clone the task if the customer wants Analysis and Match.
Ideally I would like to have a visual like a Kanban where other team members can see what stage each sample is at and drag an drop samples as they get processed. This is where Im getting stuck. It should be so simple but I feel Im going in circles this week.
I can only seem to have one Kanban per project? I did find a template where I could have multiple Kanbans but they seemed to function as clones of each other. Is there a way to have 2 boards that function independently? How would I make a workflow that enables that? Should I use a different template entirely?
Thank you in advance!
Hey there, @Holly Dominique
It sounds like you have a team managed project board instead of a company managed project board. You figured it out! You need a different template. Your attack of the cloned Kanbans is caused by this too.
Once you switch to a company managed board, you can have multiple Kanbans. And, now you can share your board. You can't do that with team managed project boards.
I am still pondering on your workflow question--thinking on it!
Hi Liz!
Thank-you very much for your quick reply!
I will give this a try and see if it solves it and works for us :)
