Safari does not display workflow-transition modals

Chris Anderson

I'm not able to transition an issue from one state to the next if that workflow transition opens a modal in Safari (version 26.5  - 21624.2.5.11.4).

When clicking the status button of the ticket (say the current status is open and I'm transitioning to in-progress) - in Safari, I can click the button, and click the desired state. But then, there's a infinitely spinning loading indicator on the button and the site does not open the modal that I need to complete the transition. The only way to clear it is to refresh the page. After a refresh, the state is returned to the original state.

In Chrome, the modal opens properly.

I've disabled all extensions in Safari and logged out / back in, but the issue persists.

Hi Chris,

This sounds like a Safari-specific issue with the transition screen or a custom app/plugin that's rendering the modal.

Can you confirm whether this happens for all workflow transitions or only a specific one? Also, does the transition screen contain any custom fields, marketplace app fields, or Forge/Connect app components may affect based on Browser wise?

If it works in Chrome but not Safari, checks the Safari Developer Console for JavaScript errors may help identify the root cause.

If no errors are reported in console , it could also be worth clearing Safari's cache/cookies for the Jira site or testing from a different network, as browser cache corruption, network filtering, or blocked requests can sometimes cause modals to remain stuck on the loading spinner.

Hi @Chris Anderson  👋🏻

First of all, welcome to community! ✨

I am sure you would have already tried the below steps but just curious if you would try the below steps.

  • Deleting cookies and cache of the Safari browser or open an incognito mode of the browser and retry
  • Validate if there are any plugins installed and if yes, could you uninstall them and test.

I hope this helps & resolves your issue. 🙂

Thanks,
Anwesha
